Description
The Pelješac Peninsula seems barely connected to the mainland. Situated in the extreme south of Croatia, surrounded by islands and the sea, it can be easily confused for an island. Or even for a mountain range rising from under the sea. This hiking tour starts with a boat - you’ll cross the channel from Korčula to Kučište, a small village on the Pelješac Peninsula that will surprise you with its big houses. At the end of the village, you’ll start to climb a flight of steep steps between houses and their colourful gardens, then, further on, you’ll come out onto the main road. After a little bit of the asphalt – sorry, there is no other way – you’ll continue on a narrow path that gains height steadily through the arid rocky landscape. The path leads to Bilopolje hamlet, offering magnificent views across to Korčula Town. From here, you’ll follow a wide dirt road to reach the Franciscan Monastery of Our Lady of the Angels. If you look backwards – a rugged mountain, if you look forwards – a captivatingly beautiful coastline, and now take a look downwards – woods of pine trees and cypresses… – this all comes together in this hiking tour. The hiking tour continues in the direction of the Church of Our Lady of Carmen. You'll passe vineyards enclosed by dry stone walls… and the last part of this hike includes a smooth descent towards Orebić, a town of sea captains. There, you'll catch a public boat to return to Korčula Town.Includes
